Anglo-American, Deborah was born in London and then trained in classical, contemporary and flamenco dance in New York, Spain and Los Angeles. Dancing and choreographing on both sides of the Atlantic, in Spain she won first prize at the V Madrid International Choreography Competition and then founded the contemporary company, FUGA, which toured Europe to critical acclaim. She also performed with some of Madrid's leading contemporary choreographers.
Following this, based for several years in Los Angeles, she choreographed various theatre productions as well as developing projects fusing flamenco, contemporary, film and theatre for which she was awarded the coveted COLA and Dance USA awards grants. During this period Deborah also created several short dance films which were seen at national and international festivals. Returning to Europe in 2009, she initiated and collaborated on a multi-lingual dance theatre project, Las Hermanas Tres, inspired by Chekhov's Three Sisters, with support from the City of Paris.
As a teacher Deborah has taught at universities, studios and schools in New York, Madrid, Sevilla and Paris, and in Los Angeles she was a teaching artist for the Music Center of LA's arts education division, introducing dance to countless school children and their teachers. After returning to Europe, she taught flamenco and adult ballet in and around Paris, and once back in the UK in 2015, adult ballet in the Welsh Marches community.
In 2018 she performed the role of Clara’s mum in Brecon National Ballet’s first production of The Nutcracker. Deborah is also a BASI certified pilates trainer, and has worked in pilates studios in Los Angeles, Paris, London and at her home studio in Wales before relocating to Rotherham in 2021.
